How long will Luxapool epoxy last?
Seven to eight years — among the longest-lasting pool coatings available in Australia, and more than double the life of a chlorinated rubber finish. Individual results vary with pool conditions, water chemistry and colour choice.
How much paint will I need?
Each 3.5L kit covers 20–25m² per coat, and Luxapool epoxy is applied in two coats. A standard 10×5m pool works out around 8–10 kits. Pebblecrete surfaces need roughly double. Use our pool calculator for an exact figure on your dimensions, and order the full quantity in one go so your colour is perfectly consistent across the whole pool.
How soon can I swim?
Allow 10 days over summer, or 14 in cooler months, before filling. That cure time is what delivers the deep, even gloss Luxapool is known for — and once it’s in, you’ve got the best part of a decade before you think about it again.
Can I do this myself?
Yes — Luxapool epoxy is a brush-and-roller job, and thousands of Australian pool owners do it themselves each season. The tools make the difference. Colormaker specify a roller at least 270mm wide on a 60mm core with a medium 10–11mm nap, a 75mm brush for cutting in at the tile line, and a tray sized to match the roller. Our DIY Pool Painting Kit is built to exactly that spec — frame, two covers, two brushes, tray and stirrer in one box. Priming a new or uncoated pool over two top coats? The DIY Kit PLUS carries the extra cover and brush for a three-coat run. Epoxy or chlorinated rubber?
Epoxy is the premium choice: 7–8 years of life, a high-gloss finish, and excellent chemical resistance. Chlorinated rubber lasts up to three years and is the right call if your pool already has a rubber-based coating on it. If you’re starting fresh or your pool is already epoxy-coated, epoxy is the better long-term value.
Can I paint over my existing coating?
Luxapool epoxy goes beautifully over an existing epoxy surface — no stripping required, just proper preparation. Not sure what’s on your pool? Send us a photo and we’ll identify it for you before you order.
What colours can I choose from?
Twenty-five colours, from classic Adriatic and Pacific Blue through to Black and Regency White. Screens vary, so check the colour guide and get in touch if you’d like help matching a shade to your pool and surrounds.
What about the steps?
Epoxy cures to a smooth, high-gloss finish. If you’d like extra grip underfoot on steps and shallow areas, Colormaker’s Anti-Slip Additive can be blended into your final coat — just ask us.
