Luxapool® Epoxy is a high-solids, two-component coating that forms a hard, smooth and glossy immersed finish.
It is suited to properly prepared concrete, cement render, fibreglass, Pebblecrete and sound existing epoxy. Primer requirements depend on the pool substrate and condition.

Luxapool® Epoxy covers approximately 20–25m² per 3.5L kit, per coat on smooth surfaces.
Textured surfaces such as Pebblecrete require more paint and may cover approximately 10–13m² per 3.5L kit, per coat.
Luxapool® Epoxy Primer Sealer covers approximately 25–30m² per 4L kit for one coat on suitable smooth surfaces. Porous or textured substrates can reduce the actual coverage.

Luxapool® Chlorinated Rubber Pool Paint
Luxapool® Chlorinated Rubber is a single-pack coating that forms a hard satin pool finish.
It is the correct repaint option for a sound horse pool already coated with chlorinated rubber. It can also be considered for suitable unpainted concrete-based horse pools using the specified preparation.

A 4L can covers approximately 28–36m² per coat on a smooth surface. Rough, porous or textured surfaces can reduce the actual coverage.

A Proven Coating for an Australian Horse Pool
Luxapool® Epoxy has been used to resurface the equine swimming pool at Morphettville Racecourse in South Australia.
The facility uses its horse pool for racehorse swimming, conditioning, hydrotherapy and rehabilitation. Its ageing surface was resurfaced with Luxapool® Epoxy to create a renewed immersed finish.
This documented project demonstrates how Luxapool® can be used in a specialised equine pool. The coating for another facility must still be selected according to its particular substrate and existing finish.

Once correctly applied and fully cured, both systems create a hard coating designed for continued immersion.
Chemical resistance
Luxapool® coatings resist saltwater, chlorinated water and common pool chemicals when the water chemistry is correctly maintained.

Check the Horse Pool Before Painting
Before ordering, check that:
The substrate is sound and firmly bonded
Cracks, leaks and structural damage have been repaired
The existing coating has been identified
Loose or failing paint can be removed
The complete surface can be cleaned and prepared
All coated areas can dry fully
The pool can remain out of service throughout preparation and curing
Suitable weather is available for application
Horse-Access Ramps and Exposed Areas
Horse-entry ramps, steps, pool surrounds and other trafficable areas need separate consideration from the immersed walls and floor.
Standard Luxapool® Epoxy creates a hard, smooth and glossy finish. Standard Luxapool® Chlorinated Rubber creates a hard satin finish. Neither product should automatically be promoted as providing the required slip resistance for horses or handlers.
Areas above the waterline may also experience direct sunlight and different wear conditions from the immersed pool surface.

Plan Your Horse-Pool Coating Project
Identify the substrate
Confirm whether the pool is concrete, cement render, fibreglass, Pebblecrete or made from several materials.
Identify the existing coating
For a previously painted pool, establish whether the existing finish is epoxy or chlorinated rubber.
Complete all repairs
Repair cracks, leaks, damaged fibreglass, loose surfaces and other defects before coating preparation begins.
Prepare the surface
Clean, repair, abrade or etch the surface according to the selected product and substrate guide. The pool must be completely dry before painting.
Prime where specified
Bare concrete, render and other porous surfaces using the Luxapool® Epoxy system require the specified primer. Follow the relevant guide for the exact substrate.
Apply the selected coating
Follow the required mixing, spreading rate, number of coats, weather conditions and recoating intervals.
Allow the full curing period
Allow at least 10 days in summer and 14 days in winter before refilling or returning the horse pool to service. Filling prematurely can damage the colour and appearance of the coating.
How Much Horse Pool Paint Will You Need?
Horse pools often have longer swimming channels, deeper walls, ramps and non-standard dimensions. These features can make their coating requirements different from those of a residential pool.

How long before the horse pool can be refilled?
Allow at least 10 days in summer and 14 days in winter before refilling or returning the pool to service. Premature filling can cause cloudy or uneven colour and damage the coating’s appearance.
